The 13th edition of the ODI World Cup 2023 cricket competition, which is played between men’s national teams and is put on by the International Cricket Council (ICC), will take place. India will serve as the host nation for the event, which will run from October 5 to November 19, 2023. In 1987, 1996, and 2011, India and other nations on the Indian subcontinent jointly hosted the men’s Cricket World Cup. This year, India will host the tournament solo. Ten different venues will host the competition. Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and Eden Gardens in Kolkata will host the first and second semifinal matches, respectively. At the same time, the championship game will be played at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.
Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, and Sri Lanka are the ten participating national teams. The West Indies missed out on the event for the first time in their history as teams had to advance through the 2023 Cricket World Cup qualification process. The 2019 competition was won by England, who defeated New Zealand in the championship match.
ODI World Cup 2023: Format
The Cricket World Cup 2023 will include 10 Teams and the same rules as the Cricket World Cup 2019. The top four teams qualify for the semifinals after playing each other once in a round-robin style.
The round-robin winner will face the team that placed first, and the second and third-place teams will face off in the other semifinal. The fourth-place team on the table will play the first-place team.
England won the 2019 World Cup final because of the boundary countback rule, which has been eliminated. From now on, if teams are tied in a knockout game and are still tied after a super over, teams will play super overs until a winner is decided.
